Upon arriving back in Koln after the holidays at home, we decided to travel to a small ski area a little over 2 hours east of Koln. This was to be a time to get reacquainted with skiing having not skied much in the last 20 years. Our desire was to head to the Alps the following week after getting a new start with skiing.
Winterberg is a pretty little ski town - sidewalks and roads all packed down with snow, a little town center to walk around, a nice ski area that is spread out over small mountains. After renting gear and finding an instructor we were underway. We were told the instructor spoke English, but that was not quite the case. We had a lesson and it went well with a lot of "follow the leader" since her English was so limited.
The snow was beautiful. The trees were covered in fresh snow and the ski runs were perfect for us - not too challenging and great for getting back into our comfort zone on the slopes!
Minutes after this photo was taken, I took a spill and....
fractured my tibia....thus....Fractured Start to the New Year!
The start of a six week adventure with the medical community and the challenge of understanding them and being understood as well.
